Frequent questions

WHAT MATERIAL ARE SUNGLASSES MADE OF?

All plastic sunglasses are made of polycarbonate. Most of it is recycled materials that give new life to our sunglasses.

All metal sunglasses are made of metal. Initially these are iron pipes that are pressed and bent. A special coating is used to give the metal its shine. This way the use of nickel is not required and our sunglasses will pass any nickel test.

All lenses are made of polycarbonate. Sometimes you will find acrylic lenses on the market, but not in our collection. One property of acrylic lenses is that they break easily. This is why the FDA (Food and Drug Administration in the United States) does not allow acrylic lenses in their country. Our polycarbonate lenses must pass the so-called "drop-the-ball test", which shows that the lenses are impact resistant.

DO ALL GLASSES HAVE PROTECTION?

All sunglasses are 100% UV400 protected. This means our sunglasses have the same UV protection as expensive sunglasses brands. Most sunglasses are category 3: this means the lenses can be used in bright sunlight situations. In our collection there are also some sunglasses with category 2 lenses. These lenses are the light colored ones (plain yellow, blue, green, pink etc.) and also ocean effect lenses. These lenses cannot be produced in category 3 because they would simply be too dark. Category 2 means there is still protection in sunny conditions.

WHAT DOES THE ECO INDICATION MEAN?

Glasses with the ECO label are made from recycled frames and/or recycled lenses. The material used for the frames is recycled polyester, known as rPCTG. It is 100% recycled from food containers, bottles and caps. The lenses are made from 100% recycled polymethyl methacrylate, known as rPMMA-L. The source is projection mounts, optical waveguides and optical lenses.
